looking for cyril

Hi can anyone help me find Cyril Spencer who we think was born in the Rotherham area in 1922?
He died in 1974 aged 74 in rotherham area .He was married to Faith Davis in 1948 but no father named ,I am at a loss an would be very grateful for any help  joscar

He died in 1974 aged 74 in rotherham area, if that is correct then he would have been born c 1900.

I think joscar has made a typo - there's a death for Cyril Spencer, June 1994, Rotherham which gives a date of birth of 6th October 1922.

Who were the witnesses to his marriage?

The nearest birth with a mothers maiden name of Spencer (ie possibly illegitimate) is
December qtr 1919 Cyril  Spencer (mothers maiden name Spencer)  Skipton  9a 57

We don't really know if he was even born in Yorkshire - all we know is that the death cert says that he was born 6th October 1922. There don't seem to be any likely candidates - he may have been adopted/changed his name or the informant got his birthday wrong  or.......................

What was his occupation on the marriage cert?

IF the dob is correct, and IF he was born a Cyril SPencer, then the only possible birth reg for him is

Oct/Nov/Dec 1922
Loughborough  7a 230
Cyril S Spencer
mums maiden name Bowden

Faith doesnt die till 1999 - so if she was the informant one would have thought the dob to be reliable

Hi all of you  thank you for the info you gave me Sorry I have not been in touch before. Cyril s father is not named on his marriage cert and I think his mother married a Lewis in 1925 but we are not sure as we dont know her first name. He was living in Rotherham when he married and once said he was born in Masboro Rotherham .Yes you were right I did make a slip up he did die in 1994 when he was married he was employed as a Hospital Porter. He was in the army but we cannot find him anywhere there either Please can you help  Joscar
