Hi Vicki and Spades
I am so excited about this!!   The book by J. Little, what is the title?  I don't suppose this will be available in South Africa though.

Thanks so much for all your info.
Regards
Delva

Morning Delva....

yes this is exciting isn't it... we are most probably the 1st relations to be in contact with that side of the family....
I am actually house-sitting at the moment - but I just remembered that I have a box of paperwork in the car - and yes the book was there, well it is more of a booklet, A4, 150 pages, lots of photo's - even a photo of Donald McNeils Homestead. There is mention of Alexander & Janet Colquhoun and their 4 children.
As far as I know this booklet has only been passed around the family -
as Joan Little was a genealogist I am sure there will be a reference somewhere.
Front Page: From The Clyde To The Clutha....Story of James & Ann McNeil & their families.
When I get home and to my scanner I could send you a few pages -
Would be best if I sent you the whole booklet - not to sure how I can get hold of another one though - will think about that.

Cheers
Vicki

Hi there,

My name's Robyne,

Althea contacted me on Ancestry.co.uk and shared this website link with me regarding your question.  So I've joined up to reply to you.

You might be pleased to learn that Alexander McNeil is my 4th great grand Uncle – I am the daughter of Dean McNeil.

I copied and pasted the relation below from Ancestry.com
:
Alexander McNeil (1792 - )
is your 4th great grand uncle

Alexander McNeil
Father of Alexander

James McNeil (1799 - 1876)
Son of Alexander

James McNeil (1826 - 1908)
Son of James

James McNeil (1855 - 1930)
Son of James

Francis Wallace McNeil (1905 - 1965)
Son of James

Allan Wallace Charles McNeil (1931 - )
Son of Francis Wallace

Dean Charles McNeil (1958 - 1986)
Son of Allan Wallace Charles

- hope this helps?

All the best Robyne.

It's my pleasure!

All these 'Alexander's' and 'James'' names can get a bit confusing.....  for me anyway!

Just to clarify, DONALD McNEIL is my 6th Great Grandfather.

-Alexander McNeil  (7th great grandfather)

-Donald McNeil (1725 - ) Son of Alexander

-Alexander McNeil Son of Donald

-James McNeil (1799 - 1876) Son of Alexander

-James McNeil (1826 - 1908) Son of James

-James McNeil (1855 - 1930) Son of James

Etc....

Thanks!
