I'd start by asking the relevant county records office/archives.
Chowns in Buckinghamshire
Broad, Eplett & Pope in St Ervan/St Columb Major, Cornwall
Browning & Moore in Cambridge, St Andrew the Less
Emms, Mealing & Purvey in Cotswolds, Gloucestershire
Barnes, Dunt, Gray, Massingham in Norfolk
Higho in London
Matthews & Nash in Whichford, Warwickshire
Smoothy, Willsher in Coggeshall & Chelmsford, Essex

Try walsall archives in essex street. They have a website and their phone number and address is on there. One of my brothers went to that school. He was born late 50's. I think the r stood for richard. Also the school is probably on friends reunited, there may be some pics or names which may be useful.

If they have no records at essex street, the only other place i could think to go is to the education authority for walsall but how far you would get, i don't know. I doubt it if stafford archives centre have anything as i suspect they would probably be dealt with  local ,but they may not have been handed over to local archives. They should be able to point you in the right direction.
