Baptism info. early 1900s

Hi,
Could any one tell me what type of information, other than the child's name, a 1907 baptism record from the Forres/Kinloss area is likely to contain?

I'm wondering whether it's worth trying to unearth the record (or not)

Apart from the child's name, the certificate will show the date, time and place of birth. Forgot to say that the father's name and mother's name, including her maiden name, will also be shown. If the parents were married, it will show the date and place of their marriage. The informant's name (usually the father) will also be shown.

Dollymixture - Should be easy enough to find the birth on Scotland's People website and will cost you about a pound to view the record which you can then print/save.

I have the birth certificate, but the baptism was (according to a note scribbled on the back of the birth cert.) was 2 years later, and in a different area of Morayshire.

On the 1911 census, the child (who is still at school) is listed as a 'lodger' with a different family (i.e. not her birth parents). Whether this family had her baptised or her mother did, I have no idea -but that is why I'm wondering about details on baptism (as oppose to birth) records.

You would first have to check the on-line catalogue of the National Archives of Scotland to see if they have the baptismal register for the church concerned for that period. If not, assuming the church is still active and hasn't merged with another, the register, if it was kept at all, will probably still be in the hands of the church itself. It might possibly be with the archives of the local authority. It was quite normal for baptisms to take place in people's houses. What these more modern registers say is just as variable as the earlier pre 1855 ones. Because of the compulsory registration of births, many churches stopped keeping detailed registers of baptisms.

I know who the minister was (and the Parish), but yes I think the baptism was in a house.

The weird thing is that as far as I know (so far) the family had no link to that house. Is it possible that the baptism was at an employers' house, or a relative's house, or just a large house (kind of like people getting married at stately homes these days !  )  or does that just sound too weird/unlikely???

Which parish was it? Was it the Church of Scotland or another denomination? What exactly is the full text of the note on the back of the birth certificate? Which house did the baptism take place in?

I was baptised in my parents' house and the minister wrote this down on the back of my birth certificate. I do not know if there is a matching entry in the church's cradle roll, but the ones I have seen in other churches have usually just listed the parents' names, the child's name and date of baptism.
