Information on Catholic marriage records 1855
« on: Monday 06 June 11 19:33 BST (UK) »
The irishgenealogy website has a marriage transcription for 1855 from the church of St. Michael and St. John, Dublin.

It states ' further details in the record'

Can anyone tell me what details are likely to be available please?

the further details are those listed below that notation - usually the names of witnesses

Thanks Shane - that was quick!

So the 'further details' bit is actually a heading for the information that follows and doesn't mean that there is other data available but not transcribed.

That's a shame, I was hoping to find some level of parent details but thanks anyway.

Early records are often quite basic, and as far as I can tell IrishGenealogy had transcribed all they can from the registers. They do plan to add images at some stage, so you should be able to check the the actual page for yourself - some of these images are already available for Dublin Church of Ireland records.

Thanks again - I suppose we should be grateful that we've found a marriage and three baptisms.  We're not doing too well on the Irish side of the family and it's four records we didn't have last week  :D

Christine, as Shane says, the further details in the record should include witnesses.

Near the bottom of the page you will see either
'the page has not yet been imaged' or, if you are lucky,
'View the Church Register page..' where you can view the scan of the actual register.

I've been lucky with these, seeing the witness names and also the occupations of the Husband's father and Wife's father. (1855/56 Dublin Church of Ireland records and Kerry RC records.)

Keep visiting the website, as some of these scans were not there a few months ago

Good luck!

Thanks for that, CP

The witnesses names do appear on the transcription but no parent information which is a shame.

I will keep watching though.
