Margaret and Agnes Fell
« on: Sunday 05 June 11 16:49 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to track down the family of Margaret Fell.(1850-1880). Her father was Peter Fell (c1823-1870). Her sister was Agnes Fell  (1855-1878). I think they came from Scotland. Margaret married Edward Edwards in 1872 at St Elphin's Church, Warrington, Cheshire.( my Great Grandfather) and lived and died in Runcorn. She is buried in Runcorn Cemetery.
I have her in the 1871 census as living in Bold Lancashire.
I cannot find the family in the 1861 census or the 1851 one.
Any leads would be most welcome.
Thanks

Kgarrard has already answered this query on the Cheshire board.

As you will see the census says they were born in Scotland so you need to look at the pay per view website Scotlands People for any info before 1871.

You can search the Scotland census on Ancestry for free - you get a transcription rather than the image but still useful.

Having said that, I've had a look and can't see anyone obvious at the moment. Do the census returns you've looked at suggest a place rather than just Scotland?

Hello,
Thanks for the interest. I have checked the Scottish web site in the recent past... no luck.. The family seem to be unrecorded in the 1861 census...

Margaret appears to have been widowed by 1881 (RG11/3672 ED92 FOL101 P30), birthplace still just Scotland.

By 1891 she is at 331 Upper Parliament St, occupation stewardess. Born in GLASGOW. RG12/2995 ED38 FOL92 P6.

Hope this is the right Margaret!

Hi,
I am trying to track down the family of Margaret Fell.(1850-1880).

It probably isn't the right one as the OP has her dates down as 1850-1880.

Thank you for the interest. Margaret married my great grandfather (Edward Edwards). Her maiden name was Fell. She died in 1880 sadly at an early age. I just cannot track her back before the 1871 census either in England or Scotland .... I must have misses something. Regards Margaret

The father's name and occupation from the marriage entry would narrow things down considerably.

Margaret's father was Peter Fell.
On the Marriage Cert it say ' gardener - deceased' . She married in1872 at St Elphin's Church, Warrington, Cheshire. Her younger sister Agnes was a witness.
