Hello John and welcome  :).  Your grandfather Clifford Harper is my 1st cousin 2x removed, your post has given me some information as I did not know his exact date of birth, just the year/qtr, so thank you for that.

Clifford's mother, Mary Jane Darlow is my 2nd Great Aunt, her sister Ellen Elizabeth Darlow is my Great Grandmother.  There is a photo of Ellen on page 13 of this thread and some lovely restores by Rootschat members here http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,551813.0.html.  You are welcome to copy the photos if you wish.

The girl in the photo with Ellen is my Aunt (still living) and I remember when she used to visit us mentioning seeing members of the Harper family in town, I seem to remember her talking about Billy Harper.

George Darlow of Sandy is my G G Grandfather too.  Things get a little complicated going back to Bedfordshire and I think there may have been different spellings of the Darlow name which has complicated things - If you have had the time to read this long thread you will see what I mean  ;D

I am happy to share information I have on the family, so if there is anything you need to know just ask.

Thank you, The photos are brilliant, my dad is the one who does the family tree, and he does have a copy of the photo but not the cleaned up version, when i just phoned him he described the photo to me over the phone and he said  he knew the the women as his aunt Nell and her granddaughter, and he remembers going to his aunt Nells  and he remembers that she had two HANDGRENADES on the mantle

Hi John, Sadly I don't have a photo of William Loundes.

Wow, really! my Great Granny had hand grenades  :o.  I guess that was at her house in Corporation Road, Dudley.

Brilliant, I would love to see any photos you have, thank you so much.

I have some photos of my grandparents, your Aunt Nell's daughter Ellen Loundes and her husband Bill Warner. Ellen Loundes would be Clifford Harper's 1st cousin.  I'm not sure where they are at the moment, I will have to dig them out and scan them.

Hi again John,

You (or your dad) may be able to help me with something. When did William Harper die? there is a death reg. in Dec Q 1971 in Dudley 9b 407 with a birth date of 21.11.1886 - is that him?
