1851/61 Census Look up, Lancashire (Bennison)
« on: Thursday 28 April 05 09:10 BST (UK) »
Hi Thank you for looking.
I am trying to find the Bennison family. Especially Joseph, I know he comes from Yorkshire but which area. I'm taking a guess hes moved to Lancs as his daughter Ann marries there in 1863.

Joseph marries Hannah Scarrow in 1822, Cockermouth, Cumberland.

Here they are in 1841-
New Lowther St, Whitehaven, Cumberland
Joseph Bennison  35  (looks like) Publican  No
Hannah  36  Y
Dorothy  16  F.S  Y
Jane  14  Y
William  12  Y
John  8  Y
Joseph  4  Y
Ann  1  Y

Joseph (senior) was born in Yorkshire (1800), in 1863 (daughters marriage cert, in Liverpool) he's a Warehouseman. In 1871 census(Lancs) he is 70, mar, no occ, born Yorkshire.

His area of birth eludes me. Apparently there are alot of Bennisons in the Yorkshire area, so until I can find an area I'm stuck.

Thank you in anticipation
Libby

I am Looking for more information on my grandfather Frank Scarrow Bennison / father Joeseph Bennison of Frankby Mannor
After the Boer War he immigrated to Sheppard Alberta, Canada.  In 1903 moved to  Eastleigh Saskatchewan, Canada. Where he married Nora Hall.  His Brother Lee Bennison came to Eastleigh after the San Francisco earthquake 1906 to gain employment as a carpenter.  He stayed in Eastleigh SK till he was found dead plowing a field in 1942. Frank and Lee's sister Alice came over in the spring of 1912 on the White Star Line, shortly before the Titanic's maiden voiage. Frank returned to England  in early 1912 to finish up the affairs of his decesist father Joeseph Bennison.  He then Returned with him to Canada.  Franks younger sisters Alice and __________  came to the farm at Eastleigh Saskatchewan.  Frank Scarrow Bennison Died of his Boar War contact with Malaria in 1927 Leaving his two remaining sons Bob and Glen Bennison.

Hi,
it is ages since I picked up this leg of the family, so I have been trying to refresh my mind.
My link to this family:
Thomas Lee married Ann Elizabeth Bennison 5th March 1863 these are my Great Great Grandparents. I suspect that Emily Ann Lee met Joesph Bennison at this wedding, they married Dec 1867.
Frankby Manor is not as grand as it sounds. Emily died in Hoylake 1908 and Joesph also died in Hoylake 1911 and are buried in the same unmarked grave at Frankby Church.
I was born and raised in West Kirby, which is only a couple of miles from Frankby so know this area well, although I now live 200+ miles away.
