Hi Banora

So does your friend have that 1931 marr cert?

If so can you let us know all the info on it from Marjory's side of the family.
Is her dad said to be still alive in 1931?

Who were the witnesses and what addresses does it give?

Where did Marjory die and under what surname?

Hi to all,

I am just trying to piece it together, the reference to Eric living in South Manchester was just on the bottom of an entry he made on his research, but I can't find it in the census other than the one he quoted being for a John Hamilton.  But she stresses the place of birth is definitely Scotland!

Just to say I had a quick look on Scotland's People and there are no registered births coming up at all for an Eric Boxall on the free search (with the 'soundex' option on), but plenty for John Boxall! Dozens of them in fact! I'll keep trying the spelling variants .... Any idea what area of Scotland he was born?

 :) Barbara

Edit the above: No Eric Boxalls born Scotland  between 1855 and 1900 that is; there are 4 born between 1900 and 1950  :-\

Just a wild thought - as it came up somewhen in another thread!

Could Eric's place of birth be Spotland?
Spotland being (now) a part of Rochdale?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Australia and probably under the surname of Ghent!  There is a public members tree, but it isn`t exactly correct as far as I can see.  Sailed to Australia in 1950 and her age was given as 46 on the passenger list.  Also as far as I can see their son born in1939 has the mothers maiden name listed as Hamilton not Boxhall. I won`t name him as he may be still alive.  I may be off the mark but it is as far as I have got so far.

I wonder if she was born as Hamilton but then mother took up with Mr Boxall and she became Hamilton - Boxall

What happened to Mr Bishop?

If it's not already been obtained I think the marriage certificate to Frederick Bishop needs to be bought to see what it says about Marjory's father

I also think Marjory's death certificate needs to be obtained. I believe Australian death certificates have more information on them than oEngland and Welsh ones do so it could be really helpful. Maybe place of birth and mother's name

It seems a little odd a 17 year old girl marrying a 61 year old man something seems wrong there.

Certainly seem an interesting family!

The daughter born in 1935 seems to have a different mothers maiden name,so was her mum a different lady?

Can't see that Ghent/Bishop/Hamilton mariage though?

Mmmm there is a Gordon G Ghent and a Madge E Reeves in 1934 in Sailisbury.

And yes Madge did sadly die in 1937.

Deaths Jun 1937

Ghent  Madge E  age 31  Southampton  2c 86
