www.deathindexes.com/canada.html

under marriages she is listed as
May when she married Donald McLeod, 1919/09/24, Vancouver
Mae Christie when she married Gordon Walker Harper, 1935/09/19, Vancouver
marriage information is only available until 1935 on this site

death
Gordon Walker Harper, 1938/07/17 Vancouver, age 44
He is buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Section HORNE2/#/15/042/0005
I don't see her buried with him so it is possible that she either remarried or didn't die in BC.

Someone may have access to street directories or old phone books that may list her in them. You may be able to get an obituary from old newspapers for Gordon that may list other family members that could help in your search. The public library in Vancouver may be able to help with old newspapers searches and they may have old telephone books as well. The phone books may give you an idea of when she may have remarried or died if she is in early books and then not in later ones.

Hi, where did you find the info on Mary marriage to Gordon Walker Harper. I just knew she married him but didn't know when. She was born Mary but went by the name May. It's almost like she didn't want to be found.I did get an obit from an old newspaper for Gordon and there are a few names so I will be searching them. I would like to get a copy of her marriage cert.to see if there is any info on it that will help. She did have a daughter in the 20's.
Thank you for the info
Cheers

Hi Puddy

The marriage is indexed on the BC Archives site:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0dkm/

In BC, marriage registrations after 1935 are protected so any subsequent marriage information for Mary would not be available at this time, unless you could find an announcement in a newspaper.

I can look up the marriage registration and give you a transcription of the details but I won't be able to do it for a few weeks.  If you prefer not to wait, another Rootschatter may be able to help you or you could ask a volunteer at the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness site to do a lookup.

Here's a link to some online Vancouver city directories to 1935.

I know you aren't necessarily looking for information on Gordon Harper but thought I would throw in information from his Attestation Papers just in case it helps at some point.

Thank you. I do have his attestation papers. I am researching his family too becuase I think his father comes from Scott side due to his middle name. I could be wrong but I am sure he does. The hunt is on.
Cheers

It appears that Gordon's parents and perhaps other relatives are buried in Masonic, Burnaby.

James Milne Harper
d. 1937/09/14, Vancouver, age 77

Elizabeth Walker Harper
d. 1932/07/27, Vancouver, age 72

There is a site that you can usually check the 1901 and 1911 census of Canada but that appears to be having some problems at the moment but I would check back to it.

You can check the 1881 and 1891 census info at

Meanwhile, while you are waiting for susano to do the lookups, you can glean a bit more info from the familysearch website at this link. Scroll down to and click on USA, Canada, and Mexico, then scroll down to British Columbia Marriage or Death Registrations. Here you will find parents names, etc. as part of the records have been transcribed. Susano will later be able gather more info from the record images, such as witnesses and informant, which will especially add to your knowledge if they are family members.
