Daisy was one of my fathers sisters. Daisy married Constable in 1916 ; there were 2 daughters , Francis (1921) and Bertha (1917). Bertha is living in eastern canada.
Constable died in 1958 & Daisy remarried William Allen .
Souris was location of parents ( David & Rose Allen ) home for many years.

Hi Vbob,

It is great to hear from you, can you confirm where William died?

Also thank you for the information, his half sister Annie had four boys, Albert (1906-1978) moved to Australia, William (1909-1910), James (1918-1924) died from injuries received after an accident, and John (1922-2002) and two girls Annie born 1920 and Nellie born 1924 my grandmother.

Thank you again

Kind regards

Helen

Was trying to create somewhat of a timeline, but have to apologize  :P
Didn't add 1901 census Winnipeg /ward 4 - saying b. May 4th 1883
-inmate with several younger home-children some just barely arrived.
Barnardo receiving home-115 Pacific / David white, superintendant
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KHK9-TH8
expanded dialogue back in my old Reply #4
One can certainly see the turmoil & trauma of landing in a new country,
then being sent all the way to a Toronto Ontario distributing home.
Where he's again sent to another distributing home in Winnipeg Manitoba
There to be sent out to another community, likely as a labourer.
No mention of minimum education ever being provided, but by all means...
send them off to War.

It appears that William Constable was the only one of his family to be sent to Canada as a Home Child. William had 4 siblings. 2 died young. His 2 surviving sisters can be traced forward in England, assuming I have found the correct girls.

Ada Constable born 1881 in Eastbourne Sussex…

1891 census has Ada with her Picknell grandparents William and Fanny, all three in the household of an Alfred Storr and family in Eastbourne Sussex.

1901 census has Ada as a boarder in the household of a William Bridle and family in Portslade by Sea East Sussex.

Ada marries William Bridle’s son Alfred Henry 09 June 1901 in Portslade. Father Thomas Constable deceased.

It appears Ada’s mother Sarah is still living. She is with Alfred and Ada Bridle and family in the 1911 census in Portslade Sussex.

Ada is traceable forward until her presumed death in 1966 at age 85.

Frances Alice Constable b. 1886 Eastbourne Sussex……
Usually known as Alice, apparently.

No sign of Alice in the 1891 census so far.

1901 census Alice is in an Industrial School for Girls in Leeds Yorkshire.

1911 census Alice is a Domestic Servant in the home of an Ernest Alfred Johnson and family in Beddington Surrey.

Alice marries William George Monk 20 Dec 1920 in the Parish Church of Southwick Sussex. Father Thomas Constable deceased.

Alice is traceable forward until her presumed death in 1963 age 77.

Have thoroughly searched once again for William and Alice in the 1891 census to no avail. They are both very well hidden. As are their parents.

Both William and Alice were baptized without second names on 09 Dec 1888 at Eastbourne All Souls Church. No birth dates added. Father Thomas James Constable, Plasterer. Mother Sarah Jane Constable. Address 70 Bourne Street.

There is a different family at 70 Bourne Street in the 1891 census and, as mentioned above, no sign of the Constables.

There is a short obit in the Calgary Herald (Alberta, Canada) in 1958 for William Constable. Unfortunately, there is no mention of any family. More info on findagrave.
