The 1st 2 listings worked fine but it was the third one (naturally the one I really wanted to see).
Thanks, Althea. Will see if I can view the information now.

Attempt #3 (using Althea's suggestion) also unsuccessful. It is a large file but I've never had this happen on other sites before.

PapersPast, have you considered linking to the AtoJs website from the PapersPast website and the reverse?

Or perhaps instead of linking/ web-ringing these type of historically significant websites, you are going to create a 'hub' page listing all the government sites of interest?

Hi All,
I'm very sorry for the slow replies, I've been away at the NetHui conference and had spotty internet access.

There's something going on with that 1898 Session I, H volume on A to J's. It should produce an index in the search results when you click on it. We'll look into this.

Here's one workaround link to the contents of that volume: http://atojs.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/atojs?a=q&r=1&results=1&sf=bySH&r=1&o=100&e=--1898---1898--10--1---bySH--Miscellaneous-0--

aghadowey - on your search list of those three results, instead of clicking on that troublesome link, try right-clicking (assuming you're on a pc) and choosing "Save link as..." or "Save target as..." (depending whether you're using Firefox or Internet Explorer) - that might help you circumvent the issue in the short term. It might still take ages to download and display, and be unresponsive in the meantime, but it's good to have options and it might help.

And while I'm on the subject, here's a link to the PDF version of that POLICE FORCE ON NEW ZEALAND report: http://atojs.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/imageserver/imageserver.pl?oid=AJHR1898-I.2.3.2.2&getpdf=true - admittedly there will be a lot of pages to sift through for you, I'm sorry for that, but you will be able to get that info from that file.

TwiggyTree - the natlib logo link on the front page links all our stuff together - it's a bit of a tricky exercise otherwise, because we have a lot of links to clutter the page up with if we were to list them, or alternatively we "play favourites" and list just a few, which would be misrepresentative.
We are looking at ways to better bring stuff together though - it's a perpetual work-in-progress.

Just another update for you all - we have another PP content release in the pipeline, it will be either later this month or early next.

We'll be releasing three new newspapers, and extending the collections of four more existing titles.

The new ones are:
Wairarapa daily times (1902-1919)
Daily Telegraph (Hawkes Bay, 1881-1901)
Akaroa Mail and Banks Peninsula Advertiser (1877-1920)

The extensions are to:
Feilding Star (adding 1910-1920)
Northern Advocate (adding 1910-1920)
Observer (adding 1910-1920)
Wellington Independent (adding 1845-1859)

The big deal for us is that this will take us out past 2 million pages on Papers Past, so we'll be having a wee celebration of this.

Also, all of the requests for new newspapers that were mentioned in this forum thread, or in emails that I got, have been put forward as "Nominated" for selection, so thank you to everyone who suggested a newspaper. More suggestions (or repeat suggestions) welcomed! "Nominated" is just the first step in the process, but it gets things happening - we like it when you guys tell us which titles you want, or areas of NZ you want covered better.

Lastly, we've figured out the problem with that volume in the A to J's that aghadowey came across, and we've got a fix planned. Thanks for spotting it aghadowey!

I would like to see the New Zealand Herald although I think it has been nominated already, and the Kumara Times and the Guardian.

I was interested to see issues of the NZ Nurse's journal Kai Tiaki have been released. Might there be a similar magazine for the mining industry up to 1930.

And are the NZ Police Gazettes a possibility one day? These are a fascinating read and provide valuable insight into the darker side of NZ society.

And could I ask that the list of 'Nominated' papers be published here? I don't know about anyone else but I have completely lost track of what might be coming next.  ;)

I have no idea if the Police Gazettes are a goer or not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
