Ferguson Greenock
« on: Monday 30 May 11 18:32 BST (UK) »
Looking for info on my Girlfriends family. I have traced back to her G Grandmother Jane Ferguson.

Only real info on her is that she married James Drummond in Greenock on the 29th Dec 1896, and have her parents as John Ferguson & Mary Miller.

Would love to know if Jane had any siblings and where she came from, was she born in Greenock? and did her father John die on the 7/1/1883.

Any help would be appreciated.

Iain

I not quite sure, as I don't have a debit card for Scotlandspeople can't buy credits to see the image.

All I know for sure is that her father John died before she married in 1896.

Have tried to look through inverclyde BMD but it does not give a lot of info on either Fergusons or Drummond.

I am sorry but my email is not working at the moment.

There are a number of 1901 entries that could fit but without knowing their respective ages it's difficult to pick the right entry

Do you know if they had any children before 1901?

I found this 1881 entry for 49 Nicholson St Greenock but no guarantees it's the right one  - children both b Greenock

John Ferguson 30 painter b Ireland
Mary   28 b Ireland
Elizabeth   4
Jane 9 Months

Jane' marriage to James Drummond is on the Inverclyde BMD site
and it say's she is the daughter of John Ferguson with a note (see John)
which usually means that there is info about him on there too,
there are quite a few John Ferguson deaths on there if you know his occupation
it may be easier to identify which one he is

So - the John Ferguson I found on the 1881 census is the same as the one found on the 1891 census - that means he couldn't have died in 1883.  If the info re: his death is correct - it's not the right family

and did her father John die on the 7/1/1883.

You really need to sort some credits out and check the 1896 marriage to establish John's occupation
