Baxter family
« on: Wednesday 27 April 05 20:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm looking for information on my Baxter family links to Tyrone. I know that my gggrandparents Robert Baxter married to Jane Henderson moved to Co. Tyrone in the early 1900's, probably with their children Maria, Mary, Kyle and Robert. They came from Glasgow originally (Lanark) but may have moved to Wigtownshire before moving to Ireland. Jane Henderson's parents may also have moved from Scotland to Tyrone. Their names were Issac Henderson and Mary Williamson.
I also know that there is some link to the name Wilson, although I don't know what it is. The three sisters 'Gertie, Lucy and Mable' seem to be cousins or something. I'd like to sind out more about this too.
Can anyone help?

Hello Tiger Lily,

Have you tried to find your Scottish links via Scotland's People?

What denomination were the families you mention?

Christopher

According to IGI Isaac Henderson & Mary Williamson had at least 4 children born in Co. Tyrone:
1. Eliza born 20 Sept.1866 Benburb dist.
2. Anne born 9 Apr.1868
3. Mary born 1 Sept.1871
4. Maria born 17 June 1877 Syerla (not sure if that is correct spelling)

It would seem that the Hendersons were in County Tyrone much earlier than 1900- perhaps they went to Scotland for a while and then returned to Ireland.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
