Missing family - COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 29 May 11 17:03 BST (UK) »
re-1881 census, I cannot find any trace of my ancestors in this census, but they are on the 1891/1901/1911 census.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be

many thanks

 ???

Mis-transcribed?

Do you want to post names, dates of births, places of births, and we can have a look for you  :)

There could be any number of reasons.   :-\
A few more obvious spring to mind

a) in transit somewhere
b) they weren't in when the enumerator called
c) they just got missed, maybe visiting and not included with the household
d) all working and missed off the return for the works
e) their name may have been mispelt so you could miss it on a search

Hi

thank you for that information, here are some details if this helps:

John Holborg born 1851 Sweden, Ann Holborg (nee Noble) born 1853 Walker, Northumberland, Emily Ann Holborg born 1877 Sunderland, Jane Holborg born 1879 Hartlepool, Amelia Holborg born 1881 Hartlepool

Have come across several misspellings of this name, can be Holborg or Hobberg/Halberg/Holberg/Holburg!!

Appreciate any help!  We are new to this!

Hi greys,

I also found the family quite easily, by simply searching for a John born in Sweden date of birth 1851 +/-2 years. Sometimes its better not to put in a surname at all  ;D
