Not too sure if this should even be on this board, but cannot see where else to post.
My cousin Sqn. Ldr. William Michael Vivian, was killed on a 'routine training flight' with 2 other Tornados off Flamborough Head, on Tues. 16 June 1998.
I have a copy from the BBC Website at the time and have found a report on a UFO (yes!!!) website about this crash.
I have tried contacting RAF Coningsby, but as I am not n.o.k., they will not offer any help. What I have been trying to get is a copy of his death certificate, I have looked at the death records on Ancestry etc., and their is nothing on there. Now I know that of the 2 pilots who were in the Tornado, only 1 body has ever been found, would this be a factor and that the death cert. was issued but not available to the public?
Any suggestons or advice would help. I am in touch with his brother, but as they were 'estranged' he only knew about the
death by chance when watching the telly at the time. So no help there really.
UPDATE:
Schooner: really did not need the Nick Pope site, do not think that that will help, have a very sceptical attitude to UFO's hence the exclamation marks.
Nanny Jan: Many thanks for the death ref - 'wonders why it is registered as a death abroad when it happened in the UK? Would never have considered looking there' Thanks again.
UPDATE 2: kyt - many thanks for that link - a very interesting report and explains a lot.
