Interesting info on Harriet. Thanks. I am also a direct descendant of George Cousens (that is the way that his grandson Tommy spelt it and we still do). My father was Leslie Charles Cousens, George's great great grandson. On the 1881 census, the name Sarah is quite clearly in error. Mary Ann was still around and she appears on the 1891 and 1901 censuses. I note that the entry on the line directly above hers in the census was a Sarah..... However, nothing about the pub was handed down through my branch of the family that I am aware of, though my father lost touch with his father (Charles Richard Cousens) after Charles and my grandmother (Charles' first cousin) divorced.
