Two Divorce Lookups appreciated for Vic or NSW
« on: Thursday 26 May 11 07:54 BST (UK) »
Hello
I would appreciate some help in finding a couple of divorce records

Elizabeth Jones

She married 1848 in Victoria to Charles Jones but on her death cert we have just found,  1903 Newcastle NSW she is listed as having married Evan Harris (have been unable to find the marriage)

the other one is

Harriet Jones married Kearney in Vic 1868 and remmaried Hartley in NSW 1889

Much appreciated if I can get help in finding the divorce records for the above
Regards
Kate

It's possible that these ladies first husbands were deceased before they remarried & they were widows.
Generally their certificates for a second marriage &/or their deaths would state this.

Do you have a copy of the certificate for the second marriage of KEARNEY Harriett E to HARTLEY William F 1889 NEWCASTLE #6164 ?

Information on a death certificate is only as good as the knowledge of the informant.  Perhaps there was no divorce or re-marriage.  Always pays to keep an open mind :D

This is the only Elizabeth and Charles divorce I could find.

It is possible that Evan may have been his 2nd given name.  Have you searched for his death?

Is this Elizabeth's marriage?

JONES Charles
TEAKLE Elizabeth
1848  Reg#5304
Church of England/St James, Melbourne  Fiche#953

Unfortunately the birth registrations of their children do not give a 2nd given name for either parent.  Are you aware of any 2nd given names for Charles and Elizabeth?

Cheers

Hello
I got Harriet Jones (Kearney) second marriage cert.

It states Widow for her.

No age, no parents names for either the bride or groom.

Her mother and brother were witnesses.

Maybe the bride and groom were hiding info ?

Hi

May I suggst you contact the church where that mariage took place and ask for the names of the parents of bride and groom as the information was not found on the NSW BDM records ... BUT it was a requirement that the clergy record it ...
