Have you been onto scotlandspeople.gov.uk ?  You'll find marriage and birth certificates there, I'm low on credits so can't help you with specifics but I can see there's a George G Spink marrying a Jane Foster in Dundee in 1912 or a George Gold Spink marrying a Jane Ann Rennie in Forfar in 1912 (Must be the latter given the middle name of their future son?).  The birth certs of the children will contain the mother's maiden name to confirm.

There are 67 Spinks in Arbroath in 1901 census and 181 in all of Angus so you'll find lots to go on.

Sad to say the spinkancestors site is off the web now. However auchmithieroots is ongoing and the spinkancestor creator is on that site. Hopefully you will be able to go further with your research from there.

Arbroath, St Vigeans, Auchmithie...names Beattie,Eaton,Spink,Smith,Keir, Shepherd, Cargill
Dunnichen/Farnell names...Weir,Addison, Anderson,Rodger
Aberdeenshire...names Stephen,Kemp,Wallace,Davidson,Sellar,McLeman,Cordiner,Crawford,Traill,Watt
Have an extensive history for McLeman.

Not necessarily. The authorities in the UK were not really interested in who was leaving the country, so passenger lists tended to go with the ship and be recorded on arrival. To the best of my knowledge and belief, there was no formal system for collecting passenger lists in the UK, though some are now being collected retrospectively.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
