Mrs McGuire  [farmer ?]   -  a little south of Christchurch 1918

Ellesmere Guardian, Volume XXIV, Issue 3937, 16 January 1918, Page 2
Southbridge Town Board.          MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Southbridge Town Board was attended by Messrs C. H. Piper (chairman), E. G. Hubbard, H. J. Sutton, R. A. Mawafcd A. E. Appleton.
...........

The pound book was inspected and it was found that stock belonging to Mrs McGuire and Mr Free had been pounded again since a warning had been sent to them that they would be prosecuted if their stock were seized again.   It was decided to take proceedings against the two offenders.

Could this Mrs McGuire have been a recent widow trying to keep up the farming operation ?

Arthur Patrick McGUIRE and Janet Mary McGUIRE a criminal case in Christchurch 1918

http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz

Ashburton Guardian, Volume XXXIX, Issue 9471, 7 December 1918, Page 4    Article view LABOURER'S MONEY         ALLEGED CONSPIRACY.         EXTRAORDINARY EVIDENCE.
CHRISTCHURCH, December 6
At the Magistrate's Court, before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., Arthur Patrick McGuire, Janet Mary McGuire. Cecil McCullough, and Frederick- John Wormald, all of Christchurch, were charged that on divers dates between September, 1915, and October 29 1918. at Christchurch, they did conspire each with the other by deceit to defraud William John Cupples of certain sums of money totalling Ł194 4s.
The case arose out of the desire of the complainant Cupples to obtain the release of a girl named Lizzie Hines from the Mount Magdala reformatory, of which institution she was an inmate.
The case for the police was conducted by Chief Detective Mcllveney; Mr Hunter appeared for the McGuires and McCullough, and Mr Alpers for Wormald. Mr Cassidy appeared to watch the case on behalf of the Mount Magdala Reformatory.
.................... [there is a long report which follows]

.....You would have to think that this Arthur Patrick McGUIRE was not closely connected to the Milton Postmaster Patrick Daly McGUIRE

Re possible sisters as detailed by SignalHill:

1896/15960   McGuire    Margaret           Catherine     Patrick
 was Q3 Carterton

1897/6546     McGuire    Myrtle Eileen      Catherine     Patrick Percy Daly
was Q3 Christchurch ??  (hard to read, but definitely no Carterton)

1904/3531     McGuire    Daphne Gwynn   Catherine     Patrick Daly
 was Q2 Dunedin

So if they were sisters, their parents were moving around  8)
