As a post script to my 1st post, the name Louis Phillip Clary Mcguire is of interest to me. Louis was born in 1869 in England, but is not shown after the 1891 census aged 22, there is a possiblity he went to N.Z. after 1891. Around 1927, my father travelled to N.Z, docking in Dunedin, he met some people who informed him he had an uncle buried in Christchurch, who died in 1918 during a flu epidemic, he also had an uncle who at the time (around 1927), was a magistrate in Dunedin (were either of these Louis?). I would be so pleased if any one could shed a light on either of these possibilities.
Thank you in advance for any help that is given.

The little township of Milton was thrown into a state of excitement one May morning, when the news went forth that the Post Office safe had been broken into and that a sum of £500 had been lifted therefrom. Mr. P. McGuire, the postmaster, went to bed about eleven o'clock the night before, his office keys being left, as usual, m the hip pocket of his trousers, which were placed in the bedroom wardrobe.   Late in the night, or early in the morning, he was disturbed by a slight noise; but, after listening for a while and hearing nothing more, he concluded that his daughter In the next room had been restless.

About seven o'clock, however, a young clerk In the office, came hurrying to Mr. McGuire with .......................

2 Possible Deaths in Newspapers
http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz

Evening Post, Volume XCVI, Issue 83, 4 October 1918, Page 8

PERSONAL MATTERS

Death from typhoid while on active service of Surgeon Captain Maguire, brother of the wife of [Wellington] Councillor L. M'Kenzie:

The late Dr. Maguire was the last of the male members of the family, which had suffered severely in the war.    [War deaths overseas were often registered at the end of the war ~1919]

Ellesmere Guardian, Volume XXIV, Issue 4134, 24 December 1919, Page 2

By the death of Mr William Maguire the Ellesmere district loses another of its very old residents.
Mr Maguire was farming at Lakeside. He retired and the farm has been carried on by his nephew, Mr John Galvin.
Mr Maguire, a brother of Mrs Galvin, of Milltown, was never married. The funeral took place on Saturday. Father Creed celebrated requiem Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Southbridge, and also read the burial service.
