I remember Ladds having a fish and chip shop on Boston High Street in the 1950s and 60s. Any connection?

Don't know of it, sorry!

1933 directory again ...

LADDS John, Fried fish dealer, 109 High St, Boston

The father of this John LADD, Charles, appears to have been a brother of the Fred LADDS mentioned by Applemike. :)

Actually Geoff, I do have a John Ladds on my tree, who is the son of Charles Ladds. He married Kate Towle, sister of Arthur Towle, (later Lucan) who was 'Old Mother Riley.' Didn't know he owned a fish and chip shop, though!

IMHO Best fish and chips in Boston at that time. Around 1960 diversified and would do half chicken and chips for 10/-. That was good now after a saturday night out. Still open at midnight even then.

cannot find  3 year old Thomas on census, under Ladds or Revell/Revill.

He is indexed as Jonas LADDS (but I think he is "Tomas")
