John HURST b 1823 England died 1878 Hobart

I am looking for information on my GGG grandfather.  He was John Hurst, born about 1823 (from age at marriage) and died in 1878 in Hobart.

The first thing I know about him is when he married Jane Wright in 1848 in Hobart.
His death registration does state that he was born in England and the informant is the undertaker.

They had 7 children:
John 1848
Mary Jane 1850-1930 (NZ)
William Henry 1855-1929 (NZ)
George James 1858-1859
James George 1859-1943
Female 1863
Augustus 1866-1867

I know nothing of when or where or how he arrived in Tasmania but I do not think he was a convict.
The only interesting thing I have found is that on his marriage certificate, one witness was a Richard Millhouse.  He married Elizabeth Heath and her mother was Mary Hurst b. 1810 in England but I can not link him to this family.

Can anyone give me any ideas of where to look for something on him.

Hi Andrea,

There is a John Hurst arriving as an assisted immigrant in NSW on the 26th November 1841 aboard the Wallace.
He is listed as being 19, a labourer. Protestant can read and write and native place being Lancashire.

Here are two possible John HURST's arriving into TAS, you would need to consult the microfilms to see if there was any further information available.

LONG SHOT
Mary Hurst( born 1825 though) was a Convict Her Parents Martha and Thomas Blackburn Hurst came to Tasmania around 1845. Perhaps your John was a brother and they all relocated
They were from Hundersfield, huddersfield, Rochdale , Protestant.

In Census they were in Charles street, premises owned by Mary's husband William Skelley
