Hi Richard.

Great to hear from you (and season's greetings!). Yours is the one bit of the Miele tree that I didn't have much detail on! Shawn and I have recently been consolidating all the known research - lots of interesting stuff. But you're in touch with the Italian side of things??? that's one thing we haven't got so would be VERY interested in swapping research!

I'll Private Message you with my email and we can go from there.

His inbox isn't full!

He just needs to make another 2 posts before he can use the PM system! ;D

Not really! ;D
This rule has always been there - it's to stop spammers getting into the PM system!

From a system point-of-view, newcomers have a "maximum" of 0?!
That's why the message looks a bit strange.

I think the rest of us used to have a limit of 50 PM's?

Oh, I know and respect the reasons! I just think newbies should be able to receive PMs but not to send... Happy Xmas by the way!

I dont really know a lot about "the family" as my dad never talked about it really, but I know of my dads cousin that moved to venezuela. He went out there and met them many years ago. In the '70's - early '80 I think. Sadly he passed away 5 years ago, so I cant ask him details now, but my Uncle would be the next best person to talk to about them and also the desendents in cassino.

Hi Richard - Happy Xmas and (for that reason) I didn't really expect a reply for a couple of days! Anyway, my email is on my original reply to you if you want to get the full gory details of the Miele family as we know them.

Just from your intro, i've tentatively reconstructed your immediate family:
Salvatore Miele (1891-1977) married Antonia Nardone (1893-1964), almost certainly back in Cassino. They had three known children - all born in South Birmingham, including your dad and uncle.

Salvatore was the second eldest (and only son) of Antonio's known/surviving children born to his first (as yet unidentified) wife in Cassino. Their first child was Maria Guiseppa, born c1889 in Cassino and she had a 'complicated' life. Shawn, also on this thread, is descended from her. Antonio's wife obviously died sometime in the 1890s in Italy, and he travelled to Barnstaple with his single brother, Pasquale to try his luck.

Around 1900/1901, both brothers seemed to travel back to Italy to marry and they came back in time for the 1901 census with their new wives and a third, married, brother Fulipe. Antonio and Benedetta then had two more daughters, Teresa b.1902 and Antonia b.1903. My research is centred on Teresa, as you know.

The Italian side of things is a complete black hole to Shawn and I, although I believe some Cassino records have been microfilmed and are available to view in the Latter Day Saints Family History Centres. Neither Shawn nor I speak Italian though! That's why I jumped in the air when you said your uncle still had connections with the Italian side of the family!

Anyway, send me an email and I can start sending you the interesting stuff!

Cheers, Colin
