Hi Valda
My James William came from Reigate but spent most of his life in Brighton where all my ancestors came from until migrating in 1912.
James  married Louisa King, she was born in Albourne.

I have the death cert for James ,even tho it is Coomber his death is stated at 21 St Martins Place.
This is the same address the Combers  were living at in the 1871 census so I would think that this is reasonably certain to be my James,or a huge coincidence.
Cheers

Hi

Sorry that wasn't the question I was asking - I didn't make myself clear. Where did you get the name James William from? All the records just give James which would more match with the 1813 Reigate baptism (particularly his age at death). Where have you William from?

1813 baptism James
1845 marriage James
1851,1861,1871 censuses James
1853 baptism of son Elvin also only James
1877 death James

Regards

Valda

Hi Valda
I took over the family history from my late father in 2005.
He had a lot of info, all on paper, and I have just tried to expand on that and confirm everything before it gets entered.
Where possible I have been working backwards and have come to James William and David.
The James I was trying to slot in was the J Coomber from Leigh which means I have to try and find the correct James.
His birth date was what my father had put in as a guesstimate.
You are correct about the 1813 baptism, I would be inclined to try and confirm this is the James that is Davids son.
Cheers Kevin

Hi

So there is actually no record which shows his name to have been James William, merely records showing him to be called James?

Hi Valda
Now that you mention it I have never questioned the name before.
As I said it was from my fathers notes. I will  have to go back and read them again.
I know that he worked with his uncle on this so he may have got it from him, but James of the 1851 census onwards is 100% correct.
Thanks for all your input I will do a bit more study and maybe crack this one, then I can get onto the Vidler/Heinrich side of our family
Cheers Kevin
