Thomas and Julia (McCormick) O’Malley
« on: Thursday 19 May 11 14:10 BST (UK) »
I’m hoping to uncover another ancestral generation and will very much appreciate any assistance on the following.  Thomas and Julia (McCormick) O’Malley are my 3x great grandparents.

According to his DC, Thomas O’Malley (Malley) (1817-1861) was the Mayo-born son of Thomas and Ann (?) (McCormack) Malley.  He died in Jedburgh Scotland, Dec 28, 1861.  Can anyone provide guidance or information on his siblings or parents?

According to her DC, his wife Julia McCormick (1827-1870) was also born in Mayo and she was the daughter of James and Helen (Reilly) McCormick.  Julia died in Eckford, Scotland, Jan 25, 1870.  As with Thomas, can anyone provide guidance or information on her siblings or parents?

Thanks!

Thomas O'Malley is my GG Grandfather and Julia O'Malley (McCormack) my GG Grandmother. I have been seeking the information you have provided in your post for some time. However, I don't have any information about previous generations as you have asked for.

I am a descendant of their son Patrick O'Malley b 1854 I believe in Ballinrobe. His DC says his father's (i.e. Thomas's) occupation was a coach proprietor. Do you have other information about Patrick's siblings or other relevant information from that generation?

Patrick married Bridgett Hinnigan in Jedburgh 1877 and lived there until his death in 1907. I believe he also went to the US at some point.

I am certain this is the same family line and would be grateful for any assistance.

regards

Brian O'Malley

Well hello, cousin.  Yes, your Patrick is my 2x great grand uncle.  I do have some of the information which you've asked about.  Given the attachments and such, it's probably best shared via email.  Drop me a Pers Mssg line with your email address and I will reciprocate.  Maybe, in time, we can take it back another generation as had been my original intent.  Look forward to hearing from you.  George

I am new to family history research but do know Thomas O'Malley is my GG Grandfather and Julia (McCormick) is my GG Grandmother.  Their son Patrick James is my G Grandfather.  He married Bridget Hinnigan in Jedburg 27/11/1877.

Your post has given me a lot of information I wasn't expecting so soon.

The reply from Brian O'Malley re Patrick O'Malley seems to connect 3 cousins.

Unfortunately I can't add to your information but would be very greatful for any information on the above mentioned ancestors.

Kind regards

Colleen.  Indeed, seems we have another connection!  Patrick and Bridget had 10 children - which had been your grandfather?  I am descendant from Patrick's sister, Mary (1842-1908), who is my 2x great grandmother.

We can share files via email.  However, Rootschat will surpresss email addresses in their general forum.  So, you need to send me a Rootschat "Personal Message" and you can give me your email address in that PM.  Note that you must use Rootschat three times, in any manner, in order to use their PM routine.

Best

George

Bit of a long shot - my gg grandfather is Patrick McCormick/McCormack who was born in around 1811, I think in Ballinrobe. He emigrated to Nottingham in the late 1840's and was married to a Catherine/Bridget who is listed on a child's birth certificate as Heives/Hewes but I think might be Hughes. Could Patrick be a sibling of Julia?

Unsure - I don't have record of any of Julia's siblings, Patrick or otherwise.  I do know that she was born around 1827 in Mayo.  According to her 1870 Eckford DC, her (deceased) parents were James and Helen (Reilly) McCormick.  James was listed as a farm laborer.  Good luck on your hunt.
