Hi Anglebaby - I have added a little more info to my request above ie, date of marriage.  Not sure if this helps with an ITM though.

Hi ya :)

ITMs dont usually provide much information IMO, the place of marriage, how long in that district ( not how long in NZ ) age of bride and groom and from memory, thats about it....

Marriage certificates are generally HEAPS better...because you get their birthplace and parents names.

Im heading there tomorrow, ill see how i go for time :)

Thanks, I have sent away for the marriage printout so don't worry about it... save your time for better stuff and hey, I might want you to pick up something easier for me another time:)   It is just so frustrating to be "stuck" on a relative!

Really?  Where can you see this?  I suppose anything is possible.  Could it just be a clerical error, I don't know how these things are done.  He did call one of his children Margaret.  I am thinking that he was in Victoria before coming to NZ (goldmining).  No proof yet, just a feeling.

I am stuck on the fact that I can't go back any further than his marriage in 1866!!   ???

Hi Tish
I have just sent you a PM - if you are able to help I'd be very grateful!
What a gem you are! It's so helpful when you live miles away!
Thanks
Dale
