Andrea:
Sorry to hear about Hilary passing away, but he lived to a good age and it's great that you re-connected before he went. These pics you've posted are wonderful but I'm afraid I can't help with identification. The only Watson pic I have is of Sarah, William's sister. Keep posting, please!

Hi Andrea
Sorry to hear about the passing of Hilary, sad but you at least met him just in time to gain some info and these wonderful photos.

Link to an image of Woodhouse Farm
http://www.geolocation.ws/v/W/File:Woodhouse%20Farm,%20Raywell%20-%20geograph.org.uk%20-%20644454.jpg/-/en

Re-looking at the photos, the one of the man under the writing from Sarah, he looks like he is wearing a "dog collar" possibly a Methodist Minister or Clergy of C of E etc.. I would plump for the Methodist. Have you found any Watson as a Methodist Lay Preacher or Clergy ??

Hull Daily Mail, Saturday 6 June 1908
Wills of the week
Mrs Lavinia Watson of 12 Grove Terrace, Beverley, who died on 2nd May last, aged 44 years the wife of Mr Joseph Watson, late of Gardham, left estate valued at £2,254 14s 4d gross of which £2,093 9s 8d is net personality.

I have just been on a website for historic inflation for these figures, this is what they equate to now:
£229,796.44  &  £213,363.84

Well after a long absence from this saga of the Watsons I am amazed to find your still going and unearthing so much about this family. What have I started?
I visited Canada and met William and Joseph Watson the grandchildren of Joseph Watson and my great auntie Alice the nurse that he eloped with, formally of Low Gardham farm.
Note how the continue to use the Watson names of William and Joseph.
Joseph return to England a year after arriving in Canada and I now see why, it was due to the death of his Wife Lavinia and it maybe that his eldest son followed him back. My understanding is that Joseph and Alice never got married but made out that they were and no one knew any wiser. They are both buried together in the same grave in the church yard in Niagara Falls where they lived. I have visited the grave and also the house in which they lived. Joseph worked for the parks authority maintaining the gardens etc.
Regarding 14 Queensgate Beverley as a matter of interest, the numbering originally use to go from 1 to 2 to 3 and continue before they introduced even numbers one side of the street and odd on the other side.(one of those boring facts).
Anyway nice to hear your all still going strong, well done.

Hello again broadgate
Keeps us on our toes do these Watson's.
Now can you ask William if Joseph ever lived at Mimico Avenue, Toronto as well as asking if he knew of Joseph's son Joseph marrying a Beulah Bahnsen in Ottawa 2 Jan 1915 please.
I had a gremlin in my comp and lost some contact details one being William's.

I good to hear from you again, I've sent off the message to Canada, spent a week last year over in Canada staying with Joseph Watson. I have attempted to attach a photo of Alice Hood who is in her mid eighties when it was taken. She being the nurse they all mention in the great elope of 1907
