William Taylor - Buried Cheadle?

Hi,

Research indicates that William Taylor was buried at Cheadle, Cheshire on 29/12/1825.  Available reference RG4-0536 suggesting non-conformist   My educated guess would favour Dean Row Chapel.

Can anyone confirm this, offer alternative suggestion or offer MI?  Any help is much appreciated.

A search on the National Archives shows this against the reference you have given:

RG 4/0536 CHESHIRE: Edgeley, Cheadle (Wesleyan): Burials

I looked at the fiche for Edgeley Wesleyan Chapel today and William Taylor was definitely buried there but unfortunately no MI transcribed'

Hi Nick,

Unfortunately the church is no longer there and the graveyard is now under Somerfield's car park in Castle Street, Edgeley.

When I was looking for one of my husband's ancestors, I contacted Stockport Cemetery and was told that all the bodies had been exhumed and re-buried at the Crem. I am not sure whether this is quite true as a few years ago workmen uncovered human bones and it was reported in the local newspaper.

Most of the stones had been transcribed by a Family History Society but next to your Taylor it just said "no details".

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Sorry, the answer is no.

The Family History Society of Cheshire, of which I am a member, transcribed the names from the gravestones but not the full inscriptions. A paper handwritten copy is housed in their library and it is also on fiche.

The society are currently adding burial information from the fiche to be sold in their online shop but this particular one has not been put on yet.

The only help I can give you is to look up a particular name for you.

William Taylor was definitely buried in Edgelely Wesleyan Methodist chapel graveyard in 1825 aged 37.

Unfortunately the graveyard was covered over and is now a car park.

Stockport Crematorium said the remains were exhumed and re buried at the Crem.

Not sure if this actually happened as I explained in an previous post.
