Obadiah Mayer
« on: Monday 16 May 11 09:52 BST (UK) »
I am researching the parents of Mary Mayer who married George Woolliscroft in 1813 Staffordshire. From Christining records there seem to be two possibilities, Both have Obadiah Mayer as the father with the spouses of Obadiah being Sarah Unsworth or Ann Simpson.  Thanks Mark

Hi Mark

Do you have any information as to where in Staffordshire the family originate from.

There are the Mayer Family of Uttoxeter Staffordshire, they have Obadiah as a father born about 1800 and as a son born about 1821, perhaps later than the time you are looking for.

There is Obadiah Mayer of Burslem Staffordshire, who had a daughter Mary christened 19 October 1794. His wife is Sarah

Obadiah Mayer of Longton Staffordshire also had a daughter Mary christened 30 May 1790. His wife is Ann

The Mary Mayer who married George Wooliscroft, is listed on the census as being born about 1786 in Stoke on Trent.

Both Burslem and Longton are part of Stoke on Trent.

The Mayer's of Burslem are linked to my Family Tree and were in the Shoe Industry.
