So 7 months later and finally getting back to this. Your Henrietta is mine too. Rev Robert Masaroon has been hard to 'place' in my family history but I do believe him to be the brother of my GGG grandfather James Masaroon. I have no other proof some old notes from years ago and some dates that seem to fit. So still looking to confirm. The name Robert Masaroon runs through all generations right down to my father and grandfather.
I do have some other info and would love to hear what you have.

Hello Lainie,

Don't know about your James Masaroon, but have some descendants of Rev. Robert Masaroon, including Henrietta Masaroon (1823-1897) who married (1) Rev. James McKee & had Robert b. 1846, and (2)  in 1847 to John Donald (1814-1901) and had 1 son & 4 daus.
I find it a very hard name to find anywhere, maybe they used different spelling ?

Am happy to give you what I have but not here.  Can I contact you privately?

Cheers,

Ventry

Hi Lainie

You need to make one more post to be able to send/receive private messages. When you've done this, you can PM me your email address and I'll send what I've got.

We have crossed paths in the past and can not remember if I have provided you with anything yet or not. My grandfather was able to get a complete list of all the locations where Rev. Robert Masaroon worked. I also have a book with a Chapter dedicated to him. Perhaps we just need to connect and start sharing. At some point I will find where this man fits into my family. There is a Robert Masaroon every generation right down to my father but just can't fine where to put our dear Reverend.

So I'm trying to connect the Missroon family to the Masaroons.  I know that James Missroon, born 1772 in Londonderry, immigrated to Charleston, South Carolina right around the end of the 18th Cy.  I have no information on his family in Derry.  I have no information if and when the spelling of the last name changed.  Maybe it didn't, but that seems like a big coincidence to have Masaroons in Derry at the same time.

Lainie, on another site you mentioned a history or notes written by Robert Garndiner Masaroon.  You said that Rev Robt Masaroon was the son of William and Sarah Masaroon and that William had brothers Edward and James.

I would love to research two ideas:
1)  There is a William Henry Missroon who died in Charleston.  He does not appear to be a descendent of the James Missroon who was born in 1772 - the dates and ages don't work out according to a document listing out his estate.  Could this William Masaroon have come over to the States after the death of his wife?  (I don't see why he would have unless his son the Rev Robt was moving around too much to care for him.)

2) Is this James Masaroon MY James Missroon?  I kinda doubt it because I think you may trace your ancestry back to him and you're on the other side of the world from me.  But let's see...
