Peter Smitton/Smeaton help me find more about him ?

Peter Smeaton/ Smitton was born in Auchterarder Perthshire c 1844 son of Matthew a shoemaker and Margaret Callum

I have been trying to find him on census but have been having no luck .
Would some kind person see if they can find him for me.

In 1861 the family are living at Lodgin House Auchterarder, Perthshire.

There seem to be 2 Peter's born 1844/1845, one of them married a Jane and is on the cenuses with her after 1871.

There is also this Peter in 1881 living as a lodger at St. Fillans, Comrie, Perthshire.

This looks like a possibility for Peter in 1881, -

Peter SMEATON, 37, Carter, born Auchterarder
Jane SMEATON, 39, Wife, b. Dunning
James SMEATON,13, Son, b. Auchterarder
Jane CROW, Lodger, 65, b, Auchterarder

Jane CROW may be related in some way, but, from this Peter's marriage record, it's not his mother-in-law !

But are you certain that you have the correct parents for your Peter b. ca. 1844, as the above Peter's likely death and marriage records in relation to the 1881 census record don't show them as Matthew and Margaret CALLUM ?

Things get a wee bit complicated in the sense that there were two Peter SMITTONs, both born in Auchterarder parish in 1844, one on 01MAY1844, the other on 01OCT1844, the respective parents being Matthew SMITTON and Margaret Callum, and William SMITTON and Jane[t] FAICHNEY.

Note that they are very probably related, both being named after their paternal, even but less likely, maternal grandfather in conformance with the widely used naming patterns in Scotland.

I found Peter Smitton son of Mathew Smitton and Margaret Callum born Auchterarder 12 September 1844 christened 1st. October on IGI
The Peter in this census I think is the son of William Smeaton and Janet Faichney . William I have yet to prove is the brother of Matthew . This would make the Peters cousins.

Jane Crow /Craw the lodger on census is possibly a relation ------ the sister of Helen Craw /Crow the wife of William Smeaton and mother of Mathew.
 Mathew and Margarets sons following the Scottish naming pattern 
1 son William after his father 2 son John after her father she was the daughter of John Callum and  and Mary Lutfoot

A look on Scotlands People has turned up this death Jane Crow spinster aged 84 died Strathearn Poorhouse  1900

father  James Crow mother Margaret McEwan  her birth d would be c 1816 and  she could possibly be the sister of William Smittons wife Helen.
