Locating death certificate of relative buried in Ukraine,1872

My gt, gt grandfather, Daniel Isaac, died in Southern Russia* April 2nd, 1872 whilst working  for the New Russia Company. I would like to find his death certificate but my search of the free b/M/D index has failed to find him. If you died abroad, at this time, will there be no British death certificate? And if not, where else might it be found? If anyone has any knowledge/experience of this sort, I'd be very grateful if you could share it. Thanks
*I presume he was based in Hugheovka/Donetsk, where the New Russia Co was based, but I don't know for sure.

if he was in Hughesovska, you could try the record office in Cardiff which holds a collection of documents

I've had a quick look at the overseas bmds for a death reg, in case his death was registered at nearest consulate, but haven't spotted anything as yet. Were any children born to the family in Russia?

Thanks for your help Osprey. To answer your questions:
1) Daniel's children stayed behind in Abercwmboi with relatives (their mother had died a few years before).
2) I've been in contact with the Glamorgan records office who have gone through all the Hughesovka documents and they couldn't find Danie Isaacl's name within the collection. Most of the documents are after the time Daniel died which is possibly the reason.
3) I've also tried to do a search for Anglican churches in Donetsk (to see if they listed burials or any such info) but to no avail.

Family knowledge was that Daniel died in Russia and the published probate document  confirms this (referring to him as Daniel Isaacs - should have been Isaac. It states: "died 2 April, 1872 at the New Russia Company Works in South Russia".
I'd like to find out how he died e.g. if he died in an accident or from an outbreak of disease, and what his profession was at this time.

but I don't think that deaths in another county of a British citizen had to be registered in this way. Also, I wouldn't worry about the final 's' on the name, surnames were recorded as the person writing spelled it, probably without reference to owner of the name.

Have you tried Rhondda library's holdings of newspapers for a report of his death?

You're more likely to find someone there with knowledge than on the Carmarthenshire board.  By the way, why is this on the Carmarthenshire board as Abercwmboi is in Glamorgan & your query is about Russia?

Thanks for all your help and links - more than I imagined I would get. You're right - my error to have put this on the Carmarthenshire section. Sorry. I'll think more carefully in future. My roots began in this county but moved to Glamorgan and so I failed to think!
