STRINGER/STRINGALL Family of Harpenden
« on: Thursday 12 May 11 17:44 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the marriage for a Joseph Stringall/Stringer/ Stringle and a Mary ( unknown ) in the Harpenden area prior to 1776.
They were the parents of my ancestor, Joseph Stringall ( later recorded as Stringer ) who was Bapt. in Harpenden on 6.10.1776. This Joseph later moved to, and lived rest of his life in , Standon.

I don't need info after1800, as that has already been dealt with.
He might have come from a family connected with paper-milling.....as in Standon.

Is anyone else researching this family ?

All help gratefully recieved.
Many thanks...........Kilmeny.

Hi Kilmemy

All of Herts surviving marriage records have now been put online by HALS.  A quick search does not reveal a marriage for Joseph and Mary.  This does rather suggest that they married outside of the county.

Thank you, Rick.

That's what I've been thinking for years now, but I was hoping someone might know something that I haven't yet discovered, about that family, which would give me a clue regarding his origin.
There is a possibility in Beds. I seem to remember.......will have to get my brain back in gear and pick up where I left off in despair !

Thanks again.............Kilmeny

Your Herts search area is very close to the Beds border.  I was actually going to suggest that you try searching there, so the Beds possibility that you have already found could well be the one.
