Bremen Germany
« on: Wednesday 11 May 11 04:42 BST (UK) »
I have a record of August Ludwig Medel leaving Bremen Germany on the boat called the Hansa.
He arrived here May 14th 1874.
Is there any way I could find any records of where in Germany he was born?
The records say he was 9 years old when he arrived.
He came with Cath Medel 47 years old.
Doza Medel age 19
Willa Medel age 8.

Where is "here"? (may help us locate other records or suggest where you can search next)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Most U.S. states give lots of details in their vital records. If August married or died in the U.S. those certificates might be helpful (although place of birth may just say Germany) depending on how much information the informant knew.
If Cath Medel was his mother and he (or a sibling) provided the details for her death certificate there might be a better chance of locating other records or a location in Germany.
