Church records Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare
« on: Tuesday 10 May 11 19:26 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the 1832 baptismal record of James Kavanagh and his siblings in the Ballymore Eustace area.  Any advice would be appreciated.

were the family RC ?

Catholic records for this parish are available in the National Library in Dublin on microfilm reference - Pos. 6481. Baptism and marriage records for the parish go back to 1779. See RC Parish of Ballymore-Eustace  (Irish Times)

Does the 1859 marriage record you mentioned  earlier (People & Families-Andrew Kavanagh), include addresses and father's names for Andrew & Mary ?

The 1859 marriage of James Kavanagh and Mary Boulger states James' father's name just as Kavanagh (no first name) and James' mother's name as Mary Brien which is correct.

I just learned that the Co. Wicklow Heritage Centre has records for Ballymore Eustace in Co. Kildare, why would that be?

The centres for both Kildare and Wicklow hold records for the parish as it's on the border between the two counties.

The Kildare centre only has records from 1839 (marriages and baptisms). The Wicklow centre has records from 1779 to 1838, but only baptisms

Thanks for the information about the church records.  I have great hope that someone can answer another question or suggest a resource: Was there something happening in the Co. Kildare and Wexford areas in the late 1800's that would entice a family to move from Co. Kildare to the Gorey area of Co. Wexford?  Was government land more available in Co. Wexford?

I believe that my Andrew and Mary Brien Kavanagh are buried in the Ballymore Eustace area of Co. Kildare.  Is there a website that has the names of the cemeteries in that area and a list of those buried in those cemeteries?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RC registers rarely have details of burials and deaths, but there are a few websites that have memorial inscription transcripts  e.g.

  http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/
  http://www.interment.net/ireland/index.htm

I dont see any mention of  Ballymore Eustace on either website, but it might be worth searching to see if there are any other websites available with transcripts for the area

Ballymore Eustace is close to the border with county Wicklow and
Kildare, so you might have to check there also.

Here's a link to a Google StreetView of the RC Church in the town - Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ballymore Eustace   there doesn't appear to be a graveyard at the same location
