The number plate on the 1100 looks like (D)AO  to me - Cumberland.  Suffix is probably C which was 1965.

I tend to agree with you it looks like "DAO 57C"

(We don't know for sure if it was a local car though I suppose - but we can perhaps
presume it was)

To get shadows like those in the photo, the sun in Skirlaugh would have to be shining from the NORTH.
