I've been trying to find more information on my great-great grandfather Thomas Howe who lived in Sheffield, from what I understand.
My great-grandmother came to America, I'm told, around 1882 with her sister Mary H. Howe(known as Polly to family) and stayed with an aunt in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their brother, Jonah Howe stayed in England and married a woman named Emily Palmer or Benningfield.
Thomas Howe was reportedly married on the 6th of March 1870 at St Phillip's Church in Sheffield to Hannah Taylor. I don't know their birth or death dates though a cousin, Ernest Howe, said it could be around 1910 to 1912 that Thomas died, and that his grandfather lived at Bradwell, Derbyshire, at the time. He went to the home with his parents, Jonah & Emily Howe, to collect Thomas' es things.
I'm also told that Thomas remarried after the death of his wife Hannah to a woman whose name may have been Rose.
There were 2 children listed in a 1881 census who may have been step children. Hannah Howe may have died around 1876 after the birth of a child named Charles, who may have died at several months.
I have 2 photographs of Thomas Howe. None of Hannah.
I tried searching some of the sites dealing with cemeteries and found several Thomas and Hannah Howes listed...
