Kate/Kathleen McCarthy born 1833

Hi, Sorry if I am repeating myself!
Please can someone look up the 1891 census for Kathleen/Kate McCarthy born in Cardiff 1883.
Her father died 1888
I wondered if her mother remarried
Hannah McCarthy  nee Barrett born 1853 Ireland.
I wondered what happened to Kate??

Shown as Inmate at Ely Schools, Ely, Llandaff, Cardiff

PS if this is her did she also have a Brother Thomas?

No the above may not be her as in 1901 their is at least 1 more on 1901 b 1884 shown as Domestic Servant b Cardiff in Fidlas Road Llanishen Glam.

Yes Kate did have a brother Thomas born 1879 Cardiff,
Is Ely School an orphange? as the story is told in the family that she was sent to an orphanage after her father died.
Was it a Catholic school?

Hi Heddwch, if you google Ely Schools Cardiff, their is a Wikipedia account of life there.
Thomas is shown as aged 10, and their is also a Rosamund aged 11.

Wondering if you could help me. I have access to ancestry and am trying to locate the 1891 census you gave references for Kate/kathleen and Thomas McCarthy - I can't find it anywhere? Am completely at a loss, can you please help. Are you able to provide search terms or advice on how to find this - have used census docs for many years so am surprised I can't find it. I have also entered in all the reference details you attached with no luck. I just want to view the record to see if there is anything else that might help us in our search forKate McCarthy.

Hi Rebecca, I have checked that census ref again on FindMyPast and it is bringing up the correct details, I have known in the past that either FindMyPast or Ancestry, but funnily enough not both, have failed to transcribe that particular page?
I am off work at present and using mobile, I can readily get into FindMyPast via mobile, but Ancestry only  give me limited.mobility to wild card etc, I wish I could think of another way?

Thanks for your email. I can get into Ely Schools now using page 1 - but can't find Kathleen. Do you remember if she was she listed as Kate or Kathleen McCarthy? Do you remember?? Thanks for your help
