Hello Siobhan

having trouble replying on roots chat, don't know if you have to be a full member to send messages?  Anyway, I am not sure about edwin but Martha was born 1851 in Dowlais Merthyr to john Griffiths and Elizabeth Mathias, can scan and send a copy marriage cert. John was born in Pembrokeshire, son of Henry, henry was at various points a farmer, postman and chelsea pensioner, he was born b 1786-1790ish in pembrokeshire cant track where, you should find him and his wife mary on 1851 & 1861 census, in uzmaston, they married in 1815 in Brawdy.

Elizabeth Griffiths was also born in Pembrokeshire, Narberth to a Lewis Mathias but I have hit a brick wall here.  John & Elizabeth can be tracked throughout 1851-1881 census in Merthyr/Rhondda/Pontypridd areas by 1901 John is living with his son Philip in Pontypridd.  The family seems to have gone into insurance (as indeed did I!) with several members working as agents around South Wales.

If you want to let me have your email address i can send what I have

Kind regards
Ceri
