Hi,

If your relative arrived in Canada in 1923, there should be a Form 30A Ocean Arrivals for him.  If you give us his name, date of birth, marital status , etc, we can help you find the record in the free database at the Library and Archives Canada site (it is really great, but not as "user friendly" as it could be for first time users).

The most recent census available for the Western Provinces is 1916 - which is too early.

Have a look at the Canada Resources thread for Alberta.  There are lots of great links here:

Hi,

I am not sure if I see your Daniel in the Ocean Arrivals forms (1919-1924), but I will post the link to them here and you can see if any of the Daniels listed are yours.

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0d3f/

These records are organised by surname groups.  O'Brien is a surname group.  Within each group, the records are filed alphabetically by forename.  This means that all of the Daniels will be together.  The first one is at image 1938.  You can page forward through all of the Daniels.

I don't see him in the 1925-1935 immigration lists either:

If he doesn't appear in Canadian immigration records, he may have come through the United States.
