Helston (COMPLETE) for now
« on: Wednesday 04 May 11 03:08 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the resting place for my Grandfathers brother. His name was Harold Phillips-Broughton or it may be Harold Broughton. It has both on his death cert. He died in the Meneuge or Meneage Hospital Helston on the 2nd of April 1978. I have contacted the local council and they have no record of his burial. He may have been cremated but I would have thought they kept records for that too. I thought he may have been buried with his wife in Devon but they have no record of him or his wife being buried there. Although i did find his wife's name on a website for the cemetery in Devon, she has a plaque in the cremation garden, but no record of him.
On his death cert it says under the informant Pauline Joan Teague, and under her qualification it states, "causing the body to be buried".
I was wondering if there is anybody near there who could look up the papers in the local library, see if there was an obit or even a death notice. I looked up the funeral parlours and the is one in the same street as the Hospital but they have no email for me to contact them, if someone could ring and get me an email contact that would be great.
Any help would be of assistance
I have the death notices for all 8 of my Grandfathers brothers and sisters and so far have not located the resting places for any of them. The same for his father. I have his mothers and that's it.

You wouldn't think people would be so hard to find when they are dead. I can find them all alive at the turn of the century, but dead in the 70's and 80's. Harder to find than Ronnie Biggs!

You could try contacting The Courtney Libarary in Truro, who hold copies of old local newspapers (West Briton and Cornish Guardian).  Not sure which years they go up to or if they do look ups, but their website is -

www.royalcornwallmuseum.org.uk/courtney-library

They may be able to suggest other places that you can look.
