Hi

Have you tried freebmd  http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

there is one on there which you should be able to confirm as it has her mothers maiden name  :)

Found it at the same time Rosie, was just going to ask if you knew her mothers maiden name ie your grandparents surname.

The registrar won't need a birth cert they only ask if you know where she was born,as short cert does have the registration district on it.

You don't need to narrow it down to a house or hospital.

Sonrry to hear that your mum has just died by the way.

Hello

Are you sure the place of birth isn't given on the short B.C. all the ones I have seen have been?

There is a birth registered in your mother's name in Bishop Auckland for the first Quarter of 1933. the only other one of the same name was born in Derby.

I was born in Harrow and that's what it says on the short cert.

I happen to have been born at home,it obviously doesn't say that, although my full birth cert will do so.

When my mum died 2 years ago(next week) they asked where she was born and I was able to tell them .....Macclesfield-that was all that was needed.

Looking back over Harleychrish's old posts I think we have found the correct birth with the mmn that we have. Don't want to mention it on the message boards for such a recent death.
