Mary Bridget McMenamin - birth record

I am hoping someone can suggest how I can find a birth record for Mary Bridget McMenamin (spelling of surname may be slightly different - have seen numerous variants) - her parents were John and Katherine and she was born in Northern Ireland C1907. I don't have a lot to go on - I do not even know which county so I am not sure where to begin. Any guidance will be of enormous help.  Maxene

First one is 10 months old in 1911 so born 1910 and 2nd one has wrong parents.

It's possible she's listed in census as Mary (rather than Mary Bridget) or even Bridget.

At the time of her birth there was no such place as 'Northern Ireland' and whilst Donegal is one of the 9 counties of the Province of Ulster it is not one of the 6 counties which make up Northern Ireland.

How accurate do you think her birth 'c1907' would be? do you know of any siblings whi were also born in Ireland?

Hi Aghadowey. Her death record on Australian BDM (NSW) indicates that she was 49 years of age when she died in 1956. I have been told (and have since confirmed myself) that there is a death recorded for a Joseph Aloysious McMenamin who died in NSW Australia in 1978 and his parents are listed as John and Catherine, so it could be the same family. I know I only have sketchy details. Maybe this line is something I need to put to the side and focus on the ones I can more easily trace until I find more info about Mary. When I was told that Mary came from northern Ireland (ie not southern Ireland), I was under the impression that it was being referred to in geographical terms rather than being an actual title of location. Thanks for helping me eliminate the two names from the 1911 census.  Maxene

One great feature of the Irish census records is that you can search for people with very little detail and eventually find them- try looking for Mary McMen* (to take in other spellings of the surname) with her age (it will search +/- 5 years.

FYI
There's a chain of McMenanim 'pubs' / restaurants / Hotels in Oregon, USA  = Google McMenanims Restaurants, Oregon and you'll find a bunch.  They started opening them up around 1980.   pete
