« on: Sunday 01 May 11 22:54 BST (UK) »
Looking for a record of a Richard Neal/Kneal to Stratford area Ontario in the mid 1800's. Like to know also location of his hometown in UK. Could be from IOM or central England. He had a son Daniel Kenneth Neal who emigrated to Little Falls NY.

To vbain: Your message received, but I don't understand guess where and Blandford. Where is this Blandford, and where did you get this information from? Your message is more of a riddle than anything tangible. Please be more specific.

The query stated that you wanted to know the place they had come from in England. Blandford  is the  English town on the marriage certificate. There is a place in England called Blandford.
If you go to any library and look for an Atlas of Great Britain, you should find all the "blandfords" in the index of the atlas.
The "Guess where" is the source.

Hello,

There is another option for Blandford - in Oxford county Ontario.  It is about 40 km or so from Stratford, so in the same general area of Ontario.   Stratford is in Perth County.

If you go to the search page for Ontario Marriages and type Kneal in the search box, you will find several of them.

More questions than answers at the moment but more info might help us.

When and where was Daniel Kenneth born?

What was Daniel's mother's name and thus the presumed wife of Richard?

When did Daniel emigrate to the the USA and was it from Ontario?

How do you know Richard was going to the Stratford area in Ontario?

Passenger records prior to 1865 are almost non-existent .... there is some info at this link.

I have not found any trace of a death for Richard in the Ontario records to date under Neal, Kneal, or Kneale. Do you have any idea when he might have passed on?

Where did you find a marriage for Richard Kneal? The only marriage I could find for a Millie E. Kneal on 25 Sept 1874 was in Blandford, Oxford County and had her marrying Jeremiah Riddle. Millie was a widow (her parents were Richard and Ellen Kipp).

Brian, can you provide any additional information on Richard Kneal? Do you know approximately when he was born? Was his son Daniel born about 1840, married to Catherine Burns and listed in Rochester, New York on the 1880 US census?
