In the Montreal parish served by - Methodist East End Lagauchetiere -  a death for Alexander Cathcart on the date you provided is entered.  He was buried on the 30th and his age at death was 64.  No other information is given except the names of the two witnesses.  One is John Millen and the other ?.

Hello there and welcome to RootsChat  :).

This answer will generally relate to your other queries as well.

The records, with images, can be found in the Drouin Collection of Ancestry.ca or Ancestry.com, which are paid subscription websites. If your local public library subscribes to Ancestry Library Edition you would have access to the records that way as well.

When searching for the Cathcarts some of the records are found indexed with only the last name.

You can also trace the Cathcarts in Montreal in directories at this link. Start at Serie principale and it is generally English after that.
