William PRINGLE b. 1730

I have an ancestor named William Pringle who was born in Roberton. He died in 1811 in Makshift (??).

Does anyone have info on parents? Or him for that matter?

He married Jean Robson on March 10, 1758. Children:

The record does not have his mothers name. You should try www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. for both his birth & marriage, it may give mother's name.

It was in the style of some registers not to include mother's name on christenings. Unfortunately you may find this is the case for the Roberton Parish registers from this period.

With the info that Sharon found, with father's name William. Have a look at IGI www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true. You can search with just the batch code for Robertson from this period for further births/christenings with a father William. There are a number entries - none include mother's name.

Batch code is C117772 which covers the period of 1679 - 1822.

There were Pringles in Caithness in the mid 1840's, ex border families.  Two sons a William b 1826 at Eskadalemuir and a John b 1837, Baldhill, Etterick both m Oliver daughters and emigrated to NZ in the mid 1800's.

You may have this info by now, but....  I have the information you are wanting.  This William Pringle is my great-great-great grandfather.  He married Jean Robson of Howspasley Farm, Roberton, on 10.3.1758.  I don't have all the children you list in my info, but son Robert married Janet Burnett on 2.10.1788, and THEIR son John married one Sarah Johnstone on 12.12.1821.  Their son, another John, married one of the Oliver sisters mentioned in another reply to your request and emigrated to NZ in 1857.   If you want more info and have an email address I can send you a copy of my information from 1730 down to today for our particular branch of the family.
