Beriah Evans
« on: Saturday 30 April 11 13:44 BST (UK) »
I read a quite old post yesterday, from somebody wanting to contact relatives of Beriah G Evans.  Well,
my mother was Nansi Jean Evans, b.(also Feb 12) 1914) in Cardiff.  Her mother Catherine (nee Thomas) died in 1918, of the terrible flu epidemic, and my mother and little brother, Iorrie, were brought up by their grandparents, largely.  Their father travelled much, and wrote, and painted, his "penname" being Mark Grace) - so if there is still anyone out there who wants to know more, fire away!
J Clare Findlay (nee Lacy, my mother married Maurice Lacy in 1940)

Hello.  I don't have much time as I would like to research family history - including using Rootschat but have just noticed Klerr's interesting message posted in April 2011.

My main interests are the ancestors and descendents of Beriah Evans who was my great grandfather.  His daughter, Elizabeth, was my father's mother.  Beriah had 9 children, the youngest, Ivan Myrddin, was married to Catherine, Klerr's grandmother.

Klerr and I are therefore distant relatives - ?second cousins?  If she reads this message, I'd love to know more about that part of the family - Catherine, Nansi and Ivan (known as Myrddin).  As a child, I remember meeting Iorrie and recall him visiting my father (his cousin) shortly before he was killed in a car accident.  My father was also brought up largely by their grandparents as his parents died young.

Mair

Would really love to exchange more details of our communal ancestors - I am a bit short on time, but Beriah Evans was also my great grandfather, and his son ( I was told his name was pronounced Merlin - Myrddyn??) was my mother's father.  He drew cartoons and was an artist, as well as travelling abroad in a missionary capacity?? I work out that you and I are second cousins, too!  Uncle iorrie's only child, Mike, my only first cousin on that side of family, lives in Surrey and I am going up on Thursday to Aunt Gerry's funeral (she died on January 24th - her 90th birthday, last week) Mike has a son and a daughter, each with 3 children - Matthew and Charlotte. Not sure about an Uncle Bryan, whose surname was Thomas, who seems to have been another brother of my mother's (Nansi Jean Evans) - skeleton in the cupboard, I wondered??  Anyway, it is lovely to have contact with you - please let me know what else I can tell you!  My email address is * if that helps!

Myrddin (pronounced "Merthen" - I can see where Klerr got Merlin from!) was one of my grandmother Lizzie's brothers. One of our Welsh aunts was very fussy about how we pronounced the names!!  I have a family photo of Beriah with his children, (Myrddin looks about 6 or7) and also a family wedding photo (I don't know whose wedding it is,) in December1900.   I also came across a letter from Gerry to my father.  I don't live too far from your cousin Mike!
