The Hynd family
« on: Thursday 28 April 11 20:57 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out about my grandmother Annie Gray (nee Hynd). The only information I have is that she married Robert Mitchell Gray in Dunfermline in September, 1912 moving to Alexandria in 1922 and returning back to Dunfermline in the years between 1922 and 1944 as my parents were married in Wellington, Shropshire and moved up to my grandparent's then where they have lived ever since. Can anyone furnish me with any information on them or the family please? Thank you.

Do you have a copy of her marriage cert which will give her parents names plus mothers maiden name.  It will also show her age at that time

Thank you for that as I know I may have to do this. I thought of trying to find out without going this way. Keeping my costs down. I only wish I had the opportunity and thoughts of doing this when I was much younger since it would be so much easier to gather information,

Unfortunately - there is more than one possible match on the 1891/1901 census - all b Dunfermline.  She may have been Ann or Annie on the census

1891

Annie b 1887  - parents James and Barbara

Ann b 1889 parents John & Margaret (shown as Ann Blair Hynd in 1901)

When you mention Alexandria - do you mean the one in NSW Australia?  The reason I ask is there is an Anne B Hynd b 1889 New South Wales parents John O and Janet.  In 1901 she is shown as Annie

Thank you for that piece of information as it might be relevant to my tree. The Alexandria is the one in Dumbartonshire. I saw that too there were more than one match on the 1891/1901 census. I am going to get a copy of the marriage certificate for my grandparents as this seems my only option to getting the right information. Thanks again for your help.
