As for the marriage you seek c 1730 for a Bernard Kirkbride:

There is a marriage at Askrigg for a Bernard Kirkbridge of Riggs House on May 1st 1728 to Anne Metcalfe of Bainbridge.

Knowing the vagaries of spelling at this time, then might this fit ?

There is also a death of an Ann Kirkbride at Bainbridge Nov 29th 1787.
Percival, Hird, Heseltine, Wilson,  Horn(e), Thwaite, Storey, Iveson, Metcalfe, Dinsdale and Sunter and the farms and families of Bishopdale.

I must learn to read ALL of the post before answering.

But I do agree with you that proof from original records must be found before making claims for parentage which may be erroneous (and oft copied).

Good luck with your search for Bernards parents.
